On 7/13/2026 at approximately 8:08 p.m., I had to wait more than 10 minutes at the customer service register to check out, as it was the only register open at the time. Another customer kindly let me go ahead because they had forgotten an item, so I was next in line. When Register 2 opened, that customer went to that register, followed by another customer. I was still waiting to be checked out, but the employee at the customer service register continued having a conversation with a customer for several minutes, even though it was clear I was waiting. I eventually went to Register 2 to be checked out because the conversation was still ongoing. I appreciate friendly customer service, but when customers are waiting, I believe they should be checked out first, and then the conversation can continue afterward. It would have made the checkout process much more efficient and prevented an unnecessary wait.

Shopping for a 9mm and was recommended the Sig P320. I own a smaller Sig 365 and thought this guy was probably pretty sharp with guns being in that department and I already own a Sig. So I bought it only to get home and find it was the most dangerous hand gun for consumers to own and about 80 lawsuits with probably zero resale. Academy would not take it back the same day I was a huge customer at this location but our families business is over. Keep promoting the most dangerous gun to your customers to clear your inventory and maybe kill one. Horrible business

If you want to be treated with respect do not shop at this store. I am a new customer and I took my mom here to return and repurchase some items. The lady at the register was extremely rude and condescending. She refused to process the transaction with the items we had in our hands. She demanded that we leave the register go back to the sales floor to grab duplicate items and get back in line to pay. Her attitude felt completely targeted and biased. We stayed civil the whole time but her mean behavior ruined our visit. We took our refund and walked out without making the purchase and we will absolutely never be back.

First, have not been a fan of Academy. But today we had the BEST employee I have seen in a long time at any store. I don’t know what you are paying Junior but it should be MUCH more. This young man has one focus: satisfying customers. He should be teaching customer service to everyone in your company. A very, very close second is Amber. How Academy was lucky enough to get both is amazing. Be good to them because someone in the retail market is going to see this or run into them and they are going to be GONE.

Ordered a pair of sweatpants for store.pickuo. It said one hour. I got the email for pick up. Went into the store and the two women in front were frazzled and the older one rude. They ended up not having the product in stock. They need more help at the Hanes Mall store and to be more customer friendly!!! Will never do that again. Waste of time.
